Jesus Lives!

I attended a choir performance at Oak Park tonight. Immensely talented group of kids, I must say. I learned something, though. All you people in the O'Reilly Brigade, apparently combating this "war on Christmas" thing, need to cool it. Jesus is still very much alive within our public schools.

A few selections from the program: "Holy Child, Jesus Child," "Born, Born In Bethlehem," "Infant Holy," "Look At Sweet Mary's Baby," and the wonderful, "The Virgin Mary Had A Baby Boy."

That's only a sample. Every single one of the twenty seven songs performed was about either Big J or Christmas. Hey, I'm down. Jesus was a cool guy, for sure. And everybody loves Christmas. It was just sort of shocking to a guy that's come to expect at least a few traditional Swahili chanties or Hebrew hymns from these deals.

I had a unique perspective on the whole thing, though, because I was sitting beside a Jewish friend of mine. I mean, not hardcore Jewish, but, as he puts it, "Jew...ish."

I quote: "I feel more out of place than Steve Urkel at a Klan meeting."
